The Stats Tab

See when, where, and how you shoot. All on-device. No AI credits needed.

Stats gives you a complete picture of your photography habits. Interactive charts, heatmaps, and lifetime metrics — all calculated on-device from your Camera Roll metadata.

How Stats Is Organized

The tab opens on a hub that loads instantly, and each screen computes only what it shows.

Lifetime Activity at the top

Your Space Reclaimed, Memories Kept, Muck Avoided, Muck Deleted, and Roll Processed numbers sit at the top of the hub. They come from Unmuck's own counters, so they never wait on your Camera Roll.

Six destination cards

Nutrition (today's intake, burn, and net), Camera Roll (counts), When (quarter, weekday, year-by-month), Where (hour of day, places, locations by month and year), Media (types, screenshots vs photos), and Unmuck Storage. Plus a Calories vs Carbs row.

Pay only for what you open

When, Where, and Media read your whole library once per session, the first time you open any of them. Where also reverse-geocodes your top locations, and pauses if you leave the screen and resumes when you come back. Unmuck Storage measures your iCloud folders when you open it. Going straight to Nutrition or Lifetime Activity triggers none of that.

Lifetime Activity

Track what you've accomplished with Unmuck over time. Shown at the top of the hub.

💾

Space Reclaimed

Total storage freed from deleted photos and compression savings. Displayed in green so you can celebrate.

❤️

Memories Kept

Photos you added to albums or explicitly kept. The ones that matter.

📷

Muck Avoided

Photos captured with Unmuck plus photos moved out of your Camera Roll. Clutter that never piled up.

🗑

Muck Deleted

Photos you deleted from Camera Roll during cleanup. Gone for good.

Roll Processed

Percentage of your Camera Roll that's been triaged — deleted, moved, organized, or kept. Watch it climb toward 100%.

Share any stat. Each metric can be shared individually as a branded image card with the unmuck.app watermark — ready for social media.

Nutrition

The Nutrition card on the hub shows today's calories, burn, and net, and opens the Nutrition page. The calorie tracking guide covers the full loop.

The Nutrition page

Today and Yesterday at a glance (intake, meals, burned, under or over), then three full-width trend charts (calories, carbs, protein) with a 7 / 14 / 30-day picker and a dashed average line. Links below lead to the Food Log, Calories vs Carbs, My Foods, Ingredient Quick-Select, and Calories Burned. Details in the calorie guide.

Food Log: daily totals

Each day is a section with its totals and one row per meal: thumbnail, time of day, dish description, and the cal / carb / protein columns, sorted by capture time. With a calories-burned source enabled (WHOOP or Apple Health), each day also shows a Burned row.

Editable in place

Tap any meal to open the photo detail view, where calories, carbs, and protein are all editable. Use the follow-up chat to refine the AI's estimate: corrections re-run the analyzer and the daily totals update automatically.

Calories vs Carbs

A scatter plot of complete days on a calories-versus-carbs grid. See whether your high-calorie days are also your high-carb days.

Where it lives: Nutrition is the first card on the Stats hub. The same page is reachable from Settings and from the Calories folder banner. You don't need a separate diet app.

Charts

Seven interactive charts that reveal your photography patterns, split across the When, Where, and Media screens. Tap any bar to jump straight to those photos in the Roll.

Photos by Quarter

Timeline of your photo activity over the last 10 years, grouped by quarter. See seasonal patterns — do you shoot more in summer? During holidays? Tap any bar to jump to those photos.

Photos by Day of Week

Which days you shoot the most. Weekends probably win.

Photos by Hour of Day

Your peak photography times. Uses the actual timezone of where each photo was taken — not your current timezone — which is why it lives on the Where screen. Tap any hour to jump to those photos.

Media Types

Breakdown of photos, videos, and other media in your library.

Screenshots vs Photos

Side-by-side comparison. How many of your "photos" are actually screenshots?

Popular Locations

Your top 12 photography spots, with your #1 location (usually home) called out separately above the chart. Photos are grouped by geographic proximity (~11 km clusters) and reverse-geocoded to city or town names. Tap any bar to jump to photos from that location.

Timezone-Aware Hours

The "Photos by Hour" chart doesn't use your current timezone. It reverse-geocodes each geotagged photo's location to determine the actual local timezone where the photo was taken. A sunset photo in Paris shows up at Paris time, not your home timezone. Photos without GPS data use a stable GMT baseline.

Tap to explore. Tap any bar in the Quarter, Hour, or Location charts to jump to those photos in the Clean Up tab. A filter banner shows which selection is active — tap Clear to go back to the full view.

Heatmaps

Three bubble charts that cross-reference location, month, and year (the two location heatmaps on Where, the year-by-month heatmap on When). Bigger bubbles mean more photos. Colors follow a Viridis-inspired gradient from dark purple (few) to yellow (many).

Locations by Month

Which locations you photograph in which months. Rows are your top locations, columns are Jan through Dec. Spot vacation patterns — the beach town that only lights up in July, the family visit every December. Tap any bubble to jump to those photos.

Locations by Year

How your location habits evolved over the last 10 years. See when you moved, when you started frequenting a new spot, or when you stopped visiting one. Tap any bubble to jump to those photos.

Photos by Year and Month

Your entire photo history as a single heatmap. Rows are years, columns are months. Instantly see your most active periods — and the gaps where life got busy or the phone stayed in your pocket.

How heatmaps are built

Unmuck groups your geotagged photos by geographic proximity (~11 km clusters), then reverse-geocodes each cluster to a city or town name. The top 13 locations are displayed. Bubble size uses cube-root scaling so small counts are still visible next to large ones. Colors follow a five-stop Viridis-inspired gradient from dark purple (fewest photos) to bright yellow (most).

Share Your Stats

Every section and chart can be shared individually as a high-resolution branded image.

How sharing works

Social-ready. Stats images are sized and branded for sharing. Show off your photography patterns, brag about reclaimed storage, or just marvel at how many screenshots you've accumulated.

100% On-Device

Stats are calculated entirely on your phone from Camera Roll metadata.

No data is sent anywhere. No AI credits are used. No network connection required.

Works without iCloud sign-in.
